waning and gibbous

  • New Moon: A new moon is when you can barely just see the moon because the moon is going in the middle of the Sun and the Earth.
  • Crescent Moon: You can only see a little sliver of our Moon's light for just a few days after
  • we have a New Moon.
  • First Quarter: You will usually see a First Quarter after a New Moon it is half of the
  • Moon's side with light.
  • Full Moon: A Full Moon is when you are able to see the Moon's entire lighted side about a week after the first quarter and it's between the Moon and the Sun.
  • Moon phases: are the shapes of the lit side of the Moon.
  • The difference between waning and waxing: waning is when something will get smaller and waxing is when something will get bigger.
  • A gibbous moon is in between a Full Moon or a Half Moon and there are two types of gibbous moon's one is waning and the other is waxing.
SummaryThe phases of the moon are a Full Moon, First Quarter, New Moon, and a Crescent Moon. There are also gibbous moons and also waning and waxing. A phase of the moon is a changing shape of a bright part of our Moon and that's when we will call it a phase. The Moon will go in a cycle and it will always start with a New Moon. The Moon doesn't make it's own light it will reflect off of the Sun's light. All of the phases will just depend the position it is with the with the Sun and Earth. Not all of the Moon is lit up because the side that the sun isn't facing will be in a complete darkness. The Moon, Earth, and a bunch of other things in the Milky Way can receive light from the Sun but in space it would only look like it's all bright but only on one side.
